Saturday Critters ~ 130 ~

As I have mentioned before,
the hubs is walking every night at our very own Brick Reservoir.
I tag along, I sit on a bench, I knit and watch the sunset.
On Thursday night, I was on the phone with my sister as we arrived.
Heading toward my bench, I spotted a Great Blue Heron.
I had the camera, but of course, I had the wrong lens.
I hung up on my sister, sorry Kathy, hurried back to the car,
switched the lens, hurried back and can you believe...
it was still there!

The Great Blue Heron
I took probably 20 images, that all looked just like this.

Then there was a little movement,

I just loved those pretty white feathers on his/her back.

Soon after, we had lift off and I was ready.

Toes pointed, wings spread...

wings down...

their wing span is incredible!!

I almost didn't go tonight, I was thinking about staying home.
The moral of the story,
never stay home and always have both lenses!

    Just beautiful Debbie, I am so glad you decided to go with Chuck and get these pictures.
    I see them flying overhead at dusk. I always marvel how they fly with their little toes pointed and having perfect posture. I am so glad you got such good pictures of his feathers and his take off.

    amen to that.. I can't tell you how many times I have spied something off my balcony that I would love to take a picture of only to realize my camera is in my office, rooms away.

    Greg has done that a few times, planned on taking a certain picture so had one type of lens and then got there and wished he had his other one. That is so cool he waited around for you to get the right lens and you captured his take off just perfectly!! I do love to see their wings come out for take off, you just can't imagine they are going to be as big as they are :)
