Getting my usual, head shots of the birds is getting kind of easy for me, too easy.
~ True Story ~
I decided to challenge myself a little,
and see what I could capture in one of the other trees in the yard.

All of the other trees are pretty far off from the window.
My friend Brian encouraged me about this topic,
saying that
"adding more of the natural environment is better than just a head shot".

I agree, I like the special element it adds to the picture.

I found these images harder to capture than the close-ups.
Primarily because these trees are so much further from the feeders.
The birds don't seem to land and hang out here.
And although I like these, I think I need something about half way, these seem way too far away!!
Hey Chuck, can you plant me a few trees, a few feet in front of these??

yes it is good to see their habitat and a good combination of close up and habitat is good.

I agree with you about a halfway point. I just saw some flowering trees for sale at Costco... hint for the hubs! But really, your photos just keep getting better and better, and bird photos can be HARD.

ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job capturing the birds and their environment. That's very hard to do! But, just so you know, your close-up pictures of birds always leave me breathless! I love seeing the textures and details!

These are great! I love the woodpecker photos! The size of that tree is impressive and you could only see that by backing off a little. All of the birds are easily identifiable even though they aren't close up portraits and the surroundings are beautiful! Your close up photos are fantastic. Don't stop taking those, but including the environment is a nice alternative.

Before the influx of feral cats that laid siege on our pool area where we kept feeders, I enjoyed close-ups. Since cats-ga-lore, this is about as close as any bird with half a brain should get to our house.

ReplyDeleteBoth are good and it is neat to see them both ways but I do love your closeups just because we can't normally get that close to the birds to see the great details of them so they are extra special in that way, we can see birds from this distance usually, but you can just see the personalities in your close up shots of the birds. I do think in whatever you do to challenge yourself though, guess what I am saying is I like them this way but don't give up on your beautiful shots of capturing them up close too :)
