They flew the coop and the nest is empty!
On May 15th it was getting very crowded in the nest,
and I knew it wouldn't be much longer!!
On May 15th, I found them playing in the side yard.
Under cover and protected, mom was teaching them how to find worms.
She was still feeding this one,
with that cute "alfalfa spike" on the back of it's head.
I waited a few days and it was clear they were not coming back.
The nest is just beautiful, so neat and so well made.

I am going to save the nest,
spray it with a sealer and put it on a table by my front door.
and things around the front door are back to normal.
I like "abnormal" better, but I know it was time for them to go!

ReplyDeleteOh parting is such sweet sorrow, but you'll see them again! I had a nest of baby bunnies last week, and last night just before going out with my dogs, I caught mama and one bunny running about. I think she was trailing him! I sent them the warning before my dogs came a running! Enjoy your weekend Debbie.

The pictures of the bird family have been so precious; they should be in a magazine. The photos were all so sweet and told such a marvelous story. I loved the fact they nested on your front door wreath; that was most interesting.
