Darby Smart...Internet Rehab

I "needed" another hobby...

   I found Darby Smart on Facebook...
an organization that sends you a craft kit, once each month. 
Everything you need, to complete a different, fun craft 
comes in this cute box, every thirty days.

  My first kit included everything you need to make a set of 
Block Printed Tea Towels

 The kit included this linoleum block, you decide on the design.

I finally went with a knife, fork and spoon and drew the design
on the linoleum block.

Then the carving begins...not an easy task.

This was tedious but I took my time and I was happy with
the finished product. The hubs helped as well!!

Next came the scary part...the ink.
This sat on my kitchen counter for several days a week.
I knew once this part was done, it was done...
if I did not like it, I could not fix it.
I am working on myself, trying to rid myself of perfection fear.

 Yesterday was the big day, I needed wanted this post for today,
so I had to ink those babies!!

 The towels had to be ironed first...
crap, I hate to iron.
I don't even know why I have one, but good thing I do.

 It went very well and I am very happy with the results.
Two, perfectly beautiful Tea Towels
Totally unnecessary but pretty to look at!!

    WOW I am impressed they look fantastic and I cannot believe it required the hard part of ironing and you did it:) Great job. This sounds like a fun project a month. Have fun in your spare time with knitting:) Hug B

    You did a beautiful job! Love the finished product! I have been working on creating a family history database and website--not exactly a craft (I'm not the craftiest person), but it does involve some research!

    Wow, this is fun. Lovely design too. My daughter gets a package once a month (Birchwood) I think it's called, but it's girly stuff, make-up, lotions, nail polish and etc. But a craft a month, we'd welcome that too! This one would be great to do with the grand-delights too. Really keep them busy!

    Those are great! I think you did a great job with the carving. I've gotten kind of obsessed with Aran crochet and am making yet another shawl. I am really enjoying it.

    Those tea towels look wonderful!!! And if you wanted, I bet you have enough ink left to make another pair, or two...
    You have hardly any snow!!! How much of ours do you want?
    You are lucky that hubs reads your blog - mine hardly ever looks at it - something about ubiquitous flowers...

    ok. I looked at this the other day - and was in AWE!!! I just love the way they turned out! And a kit a month...what a fun thing! I'm particularly impressed that you were able to carve that design yourself - that's not a bit easy! Also, I know what you mean about inks. I don't use a ton of stamping with my scrapbooking - more when I make cards or invitations...but it's hard to take the plunge and ink up. Something so "unfixable" about a bad result. Those towels came out great!
