Saturday Critters ~ 57 ~

I don't think my Woodpeckers stayed with me this summer.
I had not noticed they were gone,
until they started to return in Autumn.

I saw one in the tree outside my window and I thought...
"I have not seen one of you in a long time,
yet I did not realize you were missing"!
So were they gone? I'm not really sure but they are here now,
and they are posing beautifully for pictures.

This is a Female Downy Woodpecker
I had the window open for theses images,
she stayed for about 30 seconds,
just long enough to capture these pretty images,
as she showed off all her sides!

No cropping was needed and these pictures are not edited.
Sharing images of my pretty Downy Woodpecker with
for Saturday Critters stop by and consider joining in,
any ole' critter will do!

  2. Excellent! One of my favorites! She posed very nicely! The woodpeckers have been a bit scarce here this winter. I don't seem them daily as in the past.

  15. Awesome photos of the female downy through your window. The best I can do is on our peanut feeder as the trees are too far away even with my telephoto lens.

  16. Lovely photos, Debbie. Downies are such sweet birds! I have them at my feeder all year long. We serve shelled raw peanuts. ;)

  24. It's woodsy where I live, and we are surrounded by woodpeckers all year. My feeders are popular places for them during the winter. I love them so much! These are beautiful photos.

  29. She did stay still and pose for you. Nice shots. I notice as they approach the feeder, they hang on the pole for what seems like forever, head looking back and forth as if to make sure the coast is clear.
