  1. In Canada we call them snow fences. They are used to prevent snow drifts on the roads.

ps Since I switched to Wordpress, I have become a "no-reply" blogger again. But not really. This only happens when I comment on Blogger blogs with my Wordpress account. So, not wanting to appear snobbish, I'm gonna just reply with my Blogger account. If people go there to see who I am, they will be redirected to Wordpress anyway.

  8. I love this kind of fencing, Debbie. It keeps the sand from shifting too much...or in winter the snow.

  10. Love seeing the ocean in its many moods -- including this churning attitude! Beach fences are so distinctive!

  11. You don't see wooden snow fencing much anymore, just that orange plastic stuff, so this is a treat!! The ocean does not look happy today! My favourite image is the macro of the fence - but you already guessed that, didn't you?
I loved the next post, too! So many treasures!! May I send my Mom a copy of that shot with the candelabra made from pipe fittings? My Dad was a plumber, and I think she would get a kick out of it!

  14. Very dramatic surf and sky! I've seen that type of fence in Pensacola and also in Colorado..it serves a good purpose of holding back snow or sand, I guess.

  16. Very beautiful - even if the sky is a bit ominous - or maybe because the sky is a bit ominous. Either way - these are fantastic shots of coastal fences!

We see a lot of fencing here at the beach like that also.
