"Tent City" is located in Ocean Grove, New Jersey...
about a half hour north of us.
It's another adorable seaside community that the hubs
and I visit all the time.
Great views, awesome eateries and beautiful ocean breezes.
On August 25th of this year, we strolled about the tents.
The "homes" are "tents",
real, small, adorable tents.
Everyone decorates the front in a very unique kind of way.
This one was my favorite.
I liked this "Beach House" also, it is my second favorite.
It's a very tight knit community,
where everyone knows your name and everything thing else about you.
Do you see those cute little white picket fences??
Qualifies me for Good Fences right?!?!

There is a small structure behind each tent,
for storage when the tents are folded up for winter.
So what do you guys think...could you live in tent city for the summer?

ReplyDeletehow funky!!! i was wondering about year-round habitation. glad you clarified it is only for summer. still, i'd be creeped out living that closely to others with only canvas walls between us. nope. couldn't do it. give me wide-open spaces, locking doors, big dogs, fences/gates, fields and trees. :)

You go to the most interesting places! What an adorable place to visit! I could certainly stay there for a few weeks, or a month or two! We go camping a few times a year and our tent does not look that pretty! **Jackie

Like you, I don't think I could live there in a tent, but they're cute to look at! I wonder about cooking, bathing, etc. in a tent... The little picket fences are so cute.

ReplyDeleteI don't think your Good Fence entry is "lame". If it has a good story or an interesting feature included as yours does, that's all that matters. ReplyDeleteThis is really an amazing phenomenon! It's hard to imagine people living in these for the whole summer, but they are really pretty the way they are decorated! Such a different way to approach a summer life. I bet there are some interesting stories!

ReplyDeleteI have always loved Tent City - ty for your fantastic pictures!!! My understanding is that they are passed down from generation to generation, and highly valued ... I always loved going to Ocean Grove when we spent summers in Manasquan! Tent City ... the Victorian homes ... the auditorium ... the yearly huge yard sale (it was called something ...) ... the ocean, of course! This was back when it was closed on Sunday to cars, and before it became part of Neptune.
