  3. Those are just gorgeous photos of gorgeous birds! When I lived in the jungle of Bolivia for a year, there were macaws that would perch on the housetop. Brought back a great memory!

  4. I would really like to see those kinds of birds those birds are just amazing. I think it is funny that the burrowing owl is there. We have some that live here. I wish I could record the sound they make in the spring. It is the most haunting thing I have ever heard.

  5. Marvelous photos Debbie, such a lovely variety. Thanks to Eileen and now to you, I can't wait to get back to the National Zoo. It's within easy reach of us so there is no excuse. I've been saying how much I would love to go back there to see the Gorilla Exhibit. We met a delightful couple who were part of a group who donated to this exhibit and they were able to tell us about individual apes. And now I have the bird house to look forward to. Thank you so much for sharing these delightful photos.

  6. Lots of interesting birds!!! I have never heard of any of these varieties - well, except for the burrowing owl...
And I love the cherry blossoms in the next post... I really looked those beauties over with a fine tooth comb...
We are getting snow now - can I move away from here?

  12. I agree the Red Crested Cardinal takes the prize ... but, they are all beiutiful in their own way. I wish they didn't have to live in a zoo, but then I am guessing they are provided a high quality of life by the Smithsonian Staff. Beautiful pictures, Debbie ...
