Is photography always about the perfect image?
Does it have to be brilliant...with perfect focus, light and perspective.
Sometimes I think, it's more about those magical moments.
Being among nature, looking...hoping...discovering.
It's more about the magic you feel, when you discover something...
something very unexpected.
The hubs and I discovered a beautiful Mute Swan, sitting on her nest.
Her head popped up as she acknowledged my presence.
And then she went right back to the work of protecting her eggs.
The brush was thick, there were soooo many trees and branches.
I was very surprised I was able to get any image at all.
So for me, these are really special, because for me,
it was all about the moment.
This moment,
and having these blurry images to remember my special encounter
with this pretty Mute Swan.

She is a beauty!! And I love the branches and leaves that show she is hidden from the world, somewhat!!

Yes it is special when you see this kind of things. I saw one yesterday with 5 or 6 eggs and today, with my bird class we saw 3 Mute Swans nesting along a towpath
ReplyDeleteSwans are beautiful, but not the graceful creatures for which they're known. Several reside at my mother's home, and as long as they're swimming, they're lovely. However, once out of the water, they walk like misshapen ducks! No matter, they're still gorgeous creatures.
ReplyDeleteI had the same experience this weekend, 3 birds in the woods, that I have never seen before. I got tiny blurry images, just good enough for identification. I'm happy that I saw them, none of the pics are good enough for the blog, but that's not why I was out there bird watching. I just wanted to see the birds! Your shots are lovely, thanks for sharing the thrill of your moment!
ReplyDeleteNice find! We don't have mute swans around here, but I've seen them nesting while visiting other places. Beautiful birds and very defensive.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you captured the photo of her in her natural surroundings, protecting her eggs. I agree--the photo itself doesn't have to be "perfect." It's the memories the photo evokes that is important to me.

This was what one would call a perfect moment. You came across her in the wild and had a moment of sharing with her in her world. I love the photos!

ReplyDeleteI understand completely! It IS all about the moment. That is so special, finding the swan! Kind of like when I spotted the eagle's nest. It wasn't a great shot, but it's still special because of what it was.

ReplyDeleteNo, it does not have to be about the perfect composition or lighting or focus, I agree, Debbie, but all about the moment. And, you have shown that with theis mute swan on her nest.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great approach to photography. Certainly makes it more enjoyable, taking the pressure off to get that "perfect" shot. Which, as hard as I try, I'm never satisfied anyway. Your swan in his element is a treasure. I can see why it's so special for you. Be proud. :)
