The American Robin

I have not seen them in weeks, yesterday the yard was filled with them!!
I consider them my "Spring" birds,
as they appear first, often while snow is still on the ground.

I have always called  them "Robin Red Breast", I don't know why!!

Good thing the hubs cleaned and filled the bird bath.
They were more interested in the water,
not the food buffet I had laid out!!

  5. I never see them until the spring either so it was nice to see them. They are that bit of encouragement in the winter when you don't think it will ever get warm and then they show up. They must have had little parched throats from their journey.

  7. Word is out....Debbie's place is the place to be. I saw a group of robins last week. I'm thinking they are just taking a break from their journey south. I love Robins, they are our state bird!!!

  8. When you said you always called them Robin Red Breast it reminded me of a poem I learned way back 100 years ago. Of course I have forgotten it but I do know it was about Little Robin Red Breast.

  9. Around here, robins are always the true harbingers of spring. I think they have a condo in Florida and enjoy the winter there! Love the cute photos.

  25. Wonderful shots of the Robin's (I call them the same thing) - Perhaps they are confused about the season as they generally are a spring bird.
