A Snowy Surprise

I could see it from across the lake.
 
For sure an Egret by the shape and color
but I knew it was too small to be a Great Egret.
 
At only 24 inches,
it revealed just a peak of it's "yellow galoshes". 
 
It's a gorgeous Snowy Egret, the first time I have seen one.
 
White body, black bill...
 
black legs with bright yellow feet.

    Hi Debbie...Yellow galoshes "huh",hmmm never quite heard a bird described that way !! : )

    oh those white wings are so pretty! it would be awesome to be living among such pretty creatures...when I see them playing on water with no care in the world it makes this soul smile...beautifully captured as always :)

    Wow, you got some great shots! You have a really good eye, Debbie. I've never seen a snowy egret in "real" life--just photos. They look so delicate.
