The backyard feeders are a little quieter these days.
Those that have been brave enough to stay and enjoy my buffet,
are the feature of today's entry.
There are several "feather piles" by the feeders,
I try not to look.

These guys are all hanging around, along with those big bad Hawks!!
The Hawks are raising a ruckus, but we're not going anywhere!

The hawks are pretty magnificent birds too and they have to eat as well, but I hope they choose to pick a dining room other than the one right outside your window. Such wonderful pictures Debbie. I am never quick enough (or have quite the right equipment) to get shots of birds. but I do so love watching the variety of them all over our place. Early this morning the were about 20 mini bluejay looking things right outside my kitchen window.

ReplyDeleteWe have a huge fox trying to figure out how to get in my back yard. At least the hawks that show up here this time of year haven't arrived. I do hope they move on soon. I think they think they have found McDonalds. Oh I have learned more about birds from your photos than my birding books. :)

ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, Debbie! The snow adds a nice touch! I think female cardinals are one of the prettiest birds out there! You might think I'm crazy, but I'd love to have a hawk problem right now. I rarely see them. Plus, I've got a ton of House Sparrows they'd be welcome to dine on! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots, Debbie! I don't have hawks in my yard, but some kind of black bird that loves to devour my suet and other seed. I shoo them away the minute I see them, but I guess I need to zoom in with the camera on one and see if I can figure out just what they are! I know we have Grackles in the spring and summer, but these have a shorter tail. Grackles are pesky, too!

ReplyDeleteDebbie, I wish our feeders were either closer to the house OR that I had a wonderfully long telephoto lens but failing both of these I could enjoy your wonderfuly shots. Yes, we also have a predator - a sharp-shin hawk, who regularly comes around looking for a meal. I have shooed him away more than once and continue to be on the lookout whenever the feeders get very quiet.

ReplyDeleteWe had a hawk sitting in the tree in our front yard a couple of weeks ago. I've never seen one perch there before.
