We each have a role or part in the craziness of taking photographs.
In finding good "material" for the blog.
We are both "lookouts"...me more then him because, well,
he's driving the car.
But, I have been playing on my iPhone a lot in the car
and I am missing things!!
and I am missing things!!
Once something has been spotted by either "looker",
it is Chuck's job to spin the car around,
quickly, so the photographer (me) can jump out and get the shot!
The hubs drives the get-a-way car!!
We have a great system and it all works perfectly!
Yesterday, the hubs and I were heading to the dentist,
I was to be the patient and I was praying for a delay.
The hubs spotted this,
gorgeous Red-Tailed Hawk on October 8, 2012
He spots us right away as we pulled on to the shoulder,
no spin around was required.
He was on the hubs side of the car so today,
Chuck was the photograper also.
"We" did not get any flight shots as he soared off beautifully.
Don't ask, it's a very sore subject...
the photographer said it was the camera's fault.
I said "of course"!!

ReplyDeleteYou did get some good perched shots. All too often these birds will take even when a car is just slowing down.I know,it has happened too often to me. :(

ReplyDeleteHey -- I have that same kind of camera -- one that won't take flight shots ;>)))! The pictures "you" did get are lovely. (My camera actually doesn't do that well on perched shots either usually!)

ReplyDeleteI am always seeing hawks like that observing the world from his perch. One time I was driving with a girl friend of mine and it was fall and so I said things like "Wow look at that hawk, or Wow, did you see that flock of geese." Finally when we got to where we were going she got out of the car and said, "Gosh, I never see things like that, you are kinda weird aren't you?" So I am glad you look at birds too. Sorry I am so chatty today.

ReplyDeleteSuch a cute story Debbie. You are very fortunate to have someone who will "spin around" for you to take a picture. R. adores me, but asking him to stop once he is in drive mode would be met with a "not a good place to stop". I do love hawks.

Oh, boy, does that ever sound familiar. Gary is the turn around guy also - though sometimes he is not as cooperative. (He was getting tired of buffalo on our trip - LOL)

I think being in the passenger seat of a car with a bird watcher, a photographer or worse still a bird photographer can be bad for your health!
ReplyDeleteI'm always more comfortable when I dont drive! Often I put the cameras in the boot (trunk) of the car so I know I have no hope of getting the picture - than I can concentrate on the road!!
