All gray with a pretty black cap...
they have the cutest call you have ever heard.
They sound just like a cat!!
In the first image, he is singing and all puffed out.
This is the same bird, relaxing and posing.
They are extremely friendly and rarely fly off,
as I am hanging out the window, snaping away!!
Theresa, I never photograph them without thinking of you!
These are especially pretty with the red leaves in the background. The light is perfect...I think your coffee table book should be called "just outside my window"
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie...Love these guys, but they get me every year when I here then ..darn they sound like a cat don't they ; }

ReplyDeleteCat birds??? I learn something new all the time in blogland:)
ReplyDeletei WANT one! :)

I love catbirds. They have an understated beauty. Nice shots of this handsome guy.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS light!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of catbirds - I love seeing this one!
ReplyDeleteThe closest I've heard around here is our resident stellar jay who mimics various other sounds ... so far he has mastered red-tailed hawks, pileated woodpeckers, frogs, robins, eagles and chickens. He's even started copying our dog's whine when she wants inside.
I think the birds just trust you. Fantastic close=up from the to me unknown bird.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Debbie

ReplyDeleteNice captures, Debbie! I have been trying to capture a bird that I see now and then in my back yard, but he won't sit still long enough for a clear shot. I'm still trying to figure out what he is...I love a good mystery!
