Bye, Bye Birdies

And just like that, they were gone!!

So just in case you blinked your eyes and missed a post,
let's recap the details!!


On April 22th the hubs and I discovered this.
I shared this picture last week for World Bird Wednesday.


 On April 25th, we were able to see one baby.
This was my update on Thursday for Nancy's Blog Hop.


 On April 28th, while mum was off looking for food,
I was able to get a quick shot of both babies.
I saved this photograph to share today with World Bird Wednesday.
I never dreamed it would be my last image.
When I checked the nest today, they were gone.

    Can't believe they did the same thing to you. I was so disappointed when they left the nest here as well. Not a note, to thank us for all we did. Those birds, I tell you.
    Atleast you were able to capture these photos and share with us.
    The surely did leave quick.

    Just googled -- takes 14 days for hatchlings to leave the nest. Does that sound right?

    Maybe they were just out for a quick flying lesson....or running errands with mom!?! Crazy how you can tell they grew in just three days!!!

    They are FAST!! The bush outside our guest room at Amber's is full of mockingbirds! They are Louis Dean's favorite!

    Mumma may have moved them to another part of your garden perhaps.
    They mature quickly so you may see them hopping around in some bushy undergrowthy area.

    Seems kind of fast to me and those little guy's didn't look quite flight ready...well, who knows? You do make an interesting observation though about how quickly these birds become independent unlike their human counterparts!

    Well if that isn't something odd. I don't think they could have flown off but I don't want to think about what may have happened to them either.

    Life and death can be cruel. Poor little mites, I wonder who enjoyed them for a snack? The loss of chicks or lambs or any other baby animal is always saddening. At least you made a moving and beautiful post from this family tragedy.
