  1. Hi Deb, I am not sure about the boat tailed grackle, they have long tail and large bill? They are great photos. I hope you and your family have a happy Thanksgiving.

  4. another debbie bird mystery. i don't think it's a cowbird - bill is too long. i'm leaning towards grackle, even tho the tail is not very 'boated' here. :)

  5. Try looking at Brewer's Blackbird and reading about their color--at All About Birds....and down at the bottom click on the photos of them and go through the slide show...I think it is the 4th photo shows a male and female.

  8. Great photos. I don't know how you can catch so many great photos of birds. By the time I go in the houe to get my camera they are gone. Plus our are just pigeons that crap all over the place.

I don't think it's a cowbird, but I'm stumped as to the identity of this little one. :)

  19. With that beak, I think it's a juvenile Common Grackle. It looks like the picture in Sibley book. A handsome bird, posing in the wind!

  24. Excellent pictures Debbie. You had a excellent poser there. I guess the consensus is that it's not a cowbird. Hope the mystery is solved soon. Juvie Grackle sounds good!
