Hummers, The Last Hurrah!!

All of a sudden they came one day, they surprised me and entertained me!! I would watch them for hours. Their feeding habits were predictable. I actually got to know them by the patterns in their feathers.

Female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
She came 4 - 5 times per hour...
often staying for a minute at a time!!

They stayed, they posed...
even though I was standing right there!!

The girls finally introduced me to the boys!!!!!

Male Ruby-Throated Humming Bird

They are gone now. I will miss their pitched chips and twittering!!

Now what will I do with all this time?!?!?

Please stop by to view all the amazing photographs of our feathered friends!!!

  22. Absolutely amazing! I don't have hummingbird feeders, but I occasionally see them flitting around my flowers. But they never stay more than a few seconds. Maybe next year, I'll put out feeders!

  26. It's my first visit her via World Bird Wednesday.

What wonderful photos! It's clear that getting to know their habits paid off in allowing you to capture these great images.

I'm on Long Island and I thought we didn't have them out here. I was proved wrong this summer and found a wonderful place to enjoy them. They don't come to my yard (yet) but a hummer garden is in the plan for next year.
