All of a sudden they came one day, they surprised me and entertained me!! I would watch them for hours. Their feeding habits were predictable. I actually got to know them by the patterns in their feathers.

She came 4 - 5 times per hour...
often staying for a minute at a time!!
They stayed, they posed...
even though I was standing right there!!
The girls finally introduced me to the boys!!!!!
Male Ruby-Throated Humming Bird
They are gone now. I will miss their pitched chips and twittering!!
Now what will I do with all this time?!?!?

ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I've never seen such good close-ups. Mine only stayed a day. I was devistated. They used to come in May and stay until August. Great job on the photos.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing! I don't have hummingbird feeders, but I occasionally see them flitting around my flowers. But they never stay more than a few seconds. Maybe next year, I'll put out feeders!

I'm on Long Island and I thought we didn't have them out here. I was proved wrong this summer and found a wonderful place to enjoy them. They don't come to my yard (yet) but a hummer garden is in the plan for next year.
