The gardener's difference between a weed or a flower is where the plant is growing. If you like it where it is...it's a flower. If not...weed.
This one looks like it's related to the carrot family and could be either Queen Anne's Lace--edible when young; or Water Hemlock--which is deadly poisonous. To tell the difference and for more info:
thanks you guys....sorry to post THREE times in one day, this was suppose to be for tomorrow. whoooops....i hit the wrong button!!! you are soooo kind to reply!!!
To me Queen Anne's Lace is a beautiful wildflower. I have tried to get it to grow in my gardens but it's never taken. I suppose if I didn't want it I would have it everywhere. I remember as a kid my Mom cut some and put them in a glass with food coloring. We watched the color climb it's way up to the blossom. Something I also did with my kids! Thanks for the memory.
I love Queen Anne's Lace. I'm afraid I am allergic to it. I must be happy just to enjoy it along the side of the road. Hugs my friend! Bonnie

ReplyDeletedoesn't matter
ReplyDeletebeauty is beauty
Who cares it is pretty. If it is Queen Anne's Lace it is aptly named. I love the bluejay photo in the post below.
ReplyDeleteI think it is really pretty. It doesn't really matter if weed or not. Many weeds are pretty (and easier to grow) lol.
ReplyDeleteWell it's a wild flower of course :)
ReplyDeleteI have dug up many a wildflower and transplanted to my garden. They look nice and they grow "like weeds" ;)
Unfortunately, it's a weed around here. A beautiful weed, but so invasive. Lovely shot, Deb.
ReplyDeleteA weed would never be named after a queen, right?!!
ReplyDeleteI see Queen Anne's Lace as a beautiful wildflower! :)
ReplyDeleteMy eye beholds beauty on this one!
I would totally try and put this in a vase as a filler.... its pretty! thanks for the answer about the birds!
