Daylilies?
What are your thoughts on those dazzling flowers?
I myself have a love/hate relationship with daylilies...as hard as I try, I can't seem to shake my love and subsequent hate for them.
Each plant produces as many as 10 - 15 flowers.
and then need to be deadheaded.
I'm just not sure they are worth the work anymore!!

They are definitely pretty to look at. I never touch the ones I have. I just let the do their own thing just like everything else in my yard. I'm a very lazy gardener...lol
They are so pretty they just don't lady long enough.

I feel the same as you do! They are pretty once bloomed but then the dead head. Sigh!! The people that owned our home before we purchased must have LOVED them because there are tons and it’s a lot of work because they are not pretty once the bloom dies. Or at least not to me. It can make my landscaping look cluttered and stuff.
Your photos are gorgeous. - We have one large plant in our yard. Many times the deer het to them before they bloom.
Your day Lillies are beautiful. I have tiger Lillies. Deer don't eat them. They fill up spaces I don't want to weed,
Hello Debbie,
You have a pretty collection of daylilies, I like all the colors.
Take care, have a great day!
When we lived in VA, there was day lily wildflower seller and we purchased several varieties which were planted in an area in the front yard. We also had quite a number of the orange day lilies in the front flower beds. Your collection is quite lovely and I can understand why you never tire of seeing them. The thing I "hated" was puling up the stalks at the end of the blooming season.
Really pretty colors! Love the peachy one and bright yellow. Linda in Kansas
. . . well, they look lovely in your photographs.
All the best Jan
I think they are beautiful and your pictures of them breathtaking.
They are beautiful, we have a few plants, they don't seem to last very long I agree, I feel the same way about our Iris too.
They are lovely. I don't have lilies, but my irises behave very similarly. I love the flowers, so I don't mind the extra work.

What happens if they aren't deadheaded?
