I went for a casual visit to "Debbie's Creek" in Manasquan, 

I wanted to check on the swans nest to see if it had occupants this year like it has in previous years.

There was a swan sleeping on the nest, I did not see its mate nearby!

Looking down the creek, I noticed 2 beautiful Great Egrets.

Both Egrets were displaying mating plumage.

During breeding season they develop long, fluffy back plumes and

the Lores, the area around the eyes, turn blueish-green during this season.

I picked this picture to share because of the clear look at its foot.

There were also several Greater Yellowlegs, a robust, elegant wading bird.

Extremely long orange-yellow legs and a long and relatively thick and slightly upturned bill.

They feed primarily in shallow water, catching aquatic invertebrates and small fish
