May Day In Smithville

Smithville is a quaint historic town in New Jersey, located about a half hour drive from home.
Visiting Smithville is a treat any time of year but if you go on May Day,
they host a huge craft show with outdoor vendors in addition to their wonderful shops.
There were over 100 crafters and food vendors that feature all kinds of street food.

The above sand sculpture sits right outside the entrance to

There is a cute Carousal for the young and young at heart.

Food Vendors

Face Painting for the children.

And I stumbled upon these adorable Goslings hanging out in the lake.

I purchased 2 handmade ankle bracelets that sparkle and I love.
A handmade piece of pottery for a plant,
2 "be kind" stickers, one is for my mom and the pottery ornament that says "you'll live till you die".
There were so many beautiful things but not one thing I need.
I did "need" the ankle bracelets!

I love these spring festivals but it was 90 + degrees, too hot for me to stay long.
We split a chicken salad sandwich at
and headed home.
Why does it have to get so hot so quick.
We went from using the heat to the needing air conditioning in just a few days.

  2. That looks like a delightful little town. I certainly love events like that too. I like wandering around and seeing what everyone is offering. That heat would be hard to handle. When I was younger I loved it but these days I can't handle it as well.

I have a good friend who lives in Little Egg Harbor which I believe not too far from where you live.

  11. Looks like a great little festival, love that reflection in the first picture, the building that looks like an old school house is cool and I love that sand sculpture. Those little goslings are just the sweetest, love how they are grouped so close together!
I agree we usually go from cold to HOT with hardly any nice spring weather but we are getting a little bit of both this year :)
