I am always curious about how people decorate their homes and what they hang on the walls.
I don't hang "just anything" on the walls...
everything I use to decorate my walls has special meaning to me.
I hang either pictures I have taken or a painting of a place that reminds me of a place I have visited.
I bought this painting in a cute little shop in Point Pleasant, NJ.
It reminds me of and looks just like the entrance to our favorite beach.
Above the front door, hangs this hand painted sign that I purchased at a craft show...
Jersey Shore Shell Company
This painting I purchased at a local art gallery.
It looks exactly like our favorite bike path in Allaire State Park.
All of the items were found at our favorite beach...sea glass, coral, shells, rocks and a stick...
making this a very special piece of "art".
I have taken all of these pictures over the years.
I enjoy seeing some of my favorites displayed on the walls.
In the kitchen,
"it's so good to be home"
I embroidered the green piece below, a few years ago.
The Parsley Picture is a print from the internet that I framed.
I have several of these hand painted switch plates around the house.
There's more...but I never realized how difficult it would be to photograph pictures,
and that the images of the pictures would look so...boring!
You have some very nice things on your walls. Love the gallery walls. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the things that are hung on my walls.
ReplyDeleteYour walks are decorated well. Cheerful memories surrounding you makes a lovely home lovelier.

I love the idea that every piece of artwork has a special meaning to you. I decorate with what goes well with a room and if I like it. I will say that in my Florida condo, I do have a parrot theme going in the hallway and bedroom. I do like parrots,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your wall art, Debbie. We also have photos and signs on our apt walls and thanks for reminding me that I photographed some but have to take more photos then also do a wall hangings post. And, yes, it can be difficult to get good photos of wall art especially when they are framed in glass.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun idea for a post, Debbie and I might have to do it too sometime. I really enjoy seeing the diversity of art and I'm so glad you use so many of your own beautiful photographs as well. Things have to mean something to me, too. Makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI love how you’ve personalized your home. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I like to display meaningful items too!
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful things on your walls. I have some photos on my wall.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love your beach scene painting and the shadow box is cute.
Take care, have a great day and happy weekend!
Hi Debbie
ReplyDeleteYou have some very decorative wall art and most of it is of your making. Well done, I like all of it. You are gifted in so many ways. I also have my walls covered with my paintings but I'm also generous with my wall space and as most of my friends are artists or were artists when alive. I also have several of their paintings on my walls. It's nice to remember places we have been to and and old friends past and present.
Wonderful shots and aesthetically placed. I usually adorn my walls with the frames of beautiful memories or stories or something artistic. :)
ReplyDeleteSo many cool things! I love the fact that many of them are memories rather than just "stuff". Your photos are incredible, I would frame and display them as well, but I think my favorite has to be that shadow box made of seashells.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gallery walls! I love your found object art too.
ReplyDeleteyou home is wonderful. My house is full of hooked rugs on the walls and floor. I have paintings I have purchased here and there.
ReplyDeleteI prefer things handmade or painted.

You have delightful displays in your home. Love how you hung the many white-framed pics right next to each other. Cute photo of you two "hatching" the giant pumpkin. I have my lei collection, and Hawaii paintings and photos on my walls. Some from my parents' collection, some from mine. (I put masking tape on the back with when/where I got them or the koa wood items, so decendants know the correct scoop after I'm gone and swimming with the dolphins. Makes me think I'm not in Kansas. Linda
ReplyDeleteThese are all beautiful, Debbie. I love ❤️ your taste in art.
ReplyDeleteThey're not at all boring and I love how your reasoning -- come to think of it, the same as mine. I only have one gallery wall here at the Canal Cottage -- some of my favorite bird pictures I've taken -- and I want to add more or make another gallery.
ReplyDeleteI think pictures, ornaments, trinkets etc. that we have in our homes reflect what is and has been important in our life.
ReplyDeleteIt could be a special place we've visited, special people, a memorable holiday.
Thank you for sharing your pictures with us.
All the best Jan
These photos and paintings you have on your walls are priceless treasures and displayed so beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I have a lot on my walls that are of sentimental value and prints from places we have lived in over our married life. It's a great feeling to look at a piece and remember those times.
ReplyDeleteI would not say boring at all, it shows more of your personality. I have things I have cross stitched or others have made me or things I found at craft shows that I was drawn to in my home, I have a very big family so I do have a lot of pictures of them up on one wall too, kind of like the pictures you have taken. My friend gifted me a shutter display board for my cards also :). I think I recognize one of the cards :)
ReplyDelete3 of the cards you made for me hang on this shutter. they are all so beautiful!!
