Longwood Gardens - The Trains & Dinner

On December 1st of last year we visited Longwood Gardens to see the gardens all decked out for Christmas...I wrote about that adventure here and here.
But I never shared the pictures we had taken of
The trains are always set up and it is always such a special treat to see them.
The trains themselves and the landscape around them are "tweaked" for the Christmas season.

I also never shared pictures of the wonderful meal we enjoyed at The 1906 Restaurant.
Dinner...started with this amazing Bread, whipped butter with honey and sea salt.
The bread used to be baked and served in a small flower pot, it was super cute.
I miss that but this bread had the same flavor and was delicious.

The hubs started with a beautiful Wedge Salad...

I had Mushroom Bisque with toasted shallots.
Our server poured the soup tableside, I felt like a queen and it was divine.

We both had the Green Circle Chicken,
his with Thumbelina Carrots and Sourdough Dressing...I got Fingerling Potatoes and Dressing.

A close up of the chicken with edible flowers.

Dessert...Caramelia
Chocolate Mousse, Espresso Caramel and Coco Soil
I think this is the most beautiful and amazing desert I have ever eaten.

Things got so busy in December, but I thought, why not share these pictures now?
I hope you enjoyed this as it completes the
adventure and gave me something to write about today.
We have been home a lot, I think it is going to be a long winter!

  6. That meal.. the dessert.. everything looks fantastic. We have never been to Longwood Gardens but when the kids were younger we used to go to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to see their holiday train display. Which was incredible.

  8. That is a neat set up they have there for the train, so cool how it is among the plants like that. Nice to go out and get treated nice, that isn't always the case these days. Winter always feels like it last longer to me then the other seasons.
