The Monarchs Are Migrating

The Monarchs have begun their long journey to Mexico.
Every fall, millions of Monarch butterflies leave their summer breading grounds,
and travel upwards of 3,000 miles to overwinter in Mexico.
I was privileged to watch and photograph these beautiful butterflies last weekend.
I was amazed at the excellent condition of their wings and their bright vibrant colors.
They are attracted to the goldenrod that grows close to the ocean.
Each of these pictures is of a different butterfly.

I have more to share, for another day!

Goldenrod is a great source of food for many insects, Monarchs being no exception.
