Allaire State Park

We were looking for something to do on Sunday
and in an effort to check a lingering favorite off of the
Summer Bucket List
we took a ride to Allaire State Park.
I'm kinda' sure we have visited this summer,
but we needed to take a ride on the train, so off we went.

I enjoy this a little more than the hubs,

but he is always willing to go, what's he thinking here...

and smile for a picture!

After our ride, it was time for an early dinner.
We googled "best fried chicken" in the area and came up with
It was only about 15 minutes or less from the park, we have never been, so off we went.

It was delicious!
The chicken was "slightly" over cooked but still very good,
the sides were amazing.
Candied yams and fresh cut french fries, both piping hot.
The ketchup was served right on the plate, in a cute little spoon, I love details like that.

The hubs had the same fried chicken, his missing piece was in his hands!
Mashed sweet potatoes and grilled corn on the cob.

Afterwards, we went to Wal-Mart for a few Wal-Mart things we needed.
I figured with it being a football Sunday,
 the place would be empty.
No such luck...but we got what we needed pretty quickly and headed home.

It's always good to be home, to put on the comfy pants and pick up the knitting!

A fun outing! Speaking of trains, I think it would be fun to take a long distance trip by train...something I've never done. Your meals look awesome!

That is a lovely park with a train no less. I would love that too, Debbie.

I’m with you for the comfy pants too though knitting is not possible.

Looks like you had great weather to get out for a ride :) I love the picture of your hubs thinking, don't you sometimes wish we could know what is on their minds :) How fun to try a new place out and not to far away either. WE don't always have good luck with fried chicken, can easily be dried out, but if the sides are good that helps make up for it!
