Good Fences ~ Edition 119 ~

We were expecting a storm on Thursday June 23rd.
When a storm is forecasted, I enjoy going down to the beach to take a peek at the ocean.
Most times, you can tell it's coming just by looking at the waves.
And the air feels different, cooler and saltier, the sand is somewhat deserted.

Yarn Along

No exciting news on the knitting front.
I have spent several nights at the reservoir knitting
but it is possible I have spent more time people watching and looking for the
Great Blue Heron that hangs out there.

I am making progress on the
Honey Cowl
I picked new hydrangeas this morning from the garden for the flower basket.
I adore the mixture of colors the plants are producing this year.

Up close you can see the pretty flecks of black in the yarn, this yarn is called
Homestead Tweed
I really love it. No mistakes so far.

I am joining Ginny at Small Things

A Moment of Beauty...

Another peaceful night at the reservoir, knitting and people watching.
Smiles and hello's to and from the "happy" people.
In an instant the sky changes and provides the little bit of pink I have been waiting for.
I receive a text from the hubs "are you watching"
he is worried that I am engaged in my knitting, he doesn't want me to miss it.

The hubs returns in time to share in it's beauty...
it lasts only a few minutes and then it is gone.
Today is almost over but today has been a very good day!!

Grounds for Sculpture, Part 2

We are picking up from where we left off yesterday,
if you didn't read about how my day started and you are curious, you can read about it here.

Somehow, I made it to the Welcome Center
(can you believe the sign on the left, "we thought you'd never get here")
to get a scooter, and wouldn't you know, they were all out.
The kind woman at the center watched me walk away
and knew I would never be able to tour the grounds.
She called us back and offered us a private tour of the grounds on a golf cart.

I felt like dancing...we said, why yes,
that would be wonderful and after we toured the indoor displays,

we toured the outdoor displays on a golf cart
with our own private tour guide.

Pictured are only a handful of some of my favorite sculptures.
This sculpture was my favorite...it's name,
Young Love
It seemed appropriate for the day as we visited on June 25th,
which was our 38th Wedding Anniversary!

My life started, when I met you!

Grounds for Sculpture

I have always longed to visit
It's on the bucket list each Spring - Summer but we have never been.
The hubs was not as enthusiastic about visiting as I was
but he always goes along with anything I want to do.
Expected high temperatures on Saturday were to be in the 70's, that would be perfect.
We did some research, made the drive, only 45 minutes...so far, so good.
We arrived at the grounds and they directed us to park in the parking lot furthest from the
Welcome Center,
even though I have a handi-capped placard.
Once we realized that, I got out of the car and told the attendant I would be in need of a scooter,
he looked to be about 10 years old and I got no where with him.
I happened to glance at the car thermometer that gives the outside temperature
and it read 92 degrees.
I got a feeling...you know that feeling, get back in the car and go home.
But oh no, not me, I'm a trooper and I pushed on.
Next, on the way to the visitors center, we passed one of their cool sculptures,
I was tired, ALREADY...there was shade...
so I thought it would be a good spot to stop and snap a picture.

I posed for this picture and a bird shit all over me.
If you are wondering if I left, I didn't, now I was more determined than ever
that we were going to have a nice day.

The hubs posed, no bird poop for him...
and the rest of the day went something like that.
I do have a ton of pictures...
tomorrow, no story, just pictures...I do think you will enjoy them!!

I am adding a little p.s. today after reading some of your comments.
I have heard the theory about bird poop bringing good luck.
It wasn't just the blessing from above,
it was the sum of all things that made me think staying here was not such a good idea.

Lake of the Lillies

Out on one of my Heron and Egret hunts at
Lake of the Lillies,

I happened upon a sleeping flock of domestic ducks.

Most of them never budged an inch,

opening their eyes was about all I could get them to do.

This was the only one,

who stood up...

and then immediately laid back down...
which made getting these images a breeze!

Good Fences ~ Edition 118 ~

Is that a tiny little fence there??
Let's just say that it is!!

The hubs is still walking here at our reservoir each night.
I still tag along and knit and photograph the sunset.

I love being here at sunset,
to reflect on the day that is ending and to anticipate the day that is coming.
This sunset was not spectacular but I loved the reflections in these pictures.
The lights, the trees and the clouds,
the nights are calm, beautiful and peaceful, here at our walking place.
